This look was inspired by my new favorite protective style, crochet braids. Never again will I sit through an 7+ hour appointment to get box braids, or any style for that matter. The hair gods were looking out when crochet styles were invented. Google and YouTube it! It will change your hair life, if it hasn't already.
Ok, back to the topic at hand- my look. Styling braided styles is one of the hardest task for me. I have never associated braids with 'sexy'. I think recreational, convenient, and even a little juvenile. Don't get me wrong, I think you can rock the style at any age, but don't be surprised when you are mistaken for someone a lot younger. #BlackDontCrack!
I didn't want my hairstyle, especially since I loved it so much, to hinder my styling ability. Instead of fighting against the braids, I went with their flow. Braids make me feel free-spirited, so I wanted my OOTD to match that vibe. I pulled out my bell bottoms, a lace crop, and did my thang.
This bag has been my go to this season. It's bright, its dependable, and surprisingly it goes well with a wider variety of pieces than I thought it would. Easy decision. Backpacks make me feel like I'm going on an adventure, no matter where I'm going. Free spirits and backpacks go together like cheeseburgers and fries.
I found this lace top at Zara on sale. Initially it was going to be paired with a pair of shorts, but then found it's way to being buddies with my bell bottoms. I love the slight contrast of the deep purple lace in the top and the bright yellow of my bag.
Hair flip! That's probably one the highlights of having long braids- the hair swinging possibilities are endless.
Like most of my OOTDs, this look made me feel good. I felt sexy, even with my braids. Hair is a big part of the total look. Work with your hair, not against it!
I am positive my photographer (aka my sister) was saying something so silly. Can't complain though if she captures candid like this at the same time. Respeck!
Peace and positive vibes, beautiful people!
