The first days of Fashion Week have been amazing! The shoes, the hair, the music, and of course the FASHION! Watching the shows online is simply amazing, almost like being there! There have beena lot of shows so far and I feel like I am falling in love with almost every piece, but from these first four days of shows, a few designers have made me fall in LOVE! From head to heel of each of their models, I am swooning! Don't get me wrong, there are pieces from EVERY show that I love, but the following are lines that interested me the most.
BCBGMAXAZARIA
I am the type of girl who loves a fitted piece, so I was pleasantly surpised when I fell for the majority of the pieces in this line. Free flowing material, blocked colors, draped pieces, and big furs. I can not wait to see these pieces out in the world. The patterns are genius!
Desigual
Gorgeous colors, a free spirited, mod feel with endless patterns, and the bouncing strut of the models intrigued me! I loved the curly hair and the fun golden makeup. Patterns on patterns on patterns and a show that will leave you smiling!
Rebecca Minkoff
These models played NO games! A serious face, with a simple eye and a dark lip, and a middle part with slightly tousled hair flowing freely or pulled back. The focus was definitely on the pieces and not the models, but what better place to put your eyes! The show went from light to dark, satisfying any style taste bud you have. There were nice patterns, but these pieces put me in the mind of the quintessential business woman; pieces that can take you from the office to the bar effortlessly! Now, what kind of business is up to you!
Lee Jean Youn
One word- DRAMATIC! Complicated draping, unique textures and patterns, and the headpieces! You could not miss those head pieces! I loved the tulle and lace and sheer garments. A very daring line! No, these are not your conventional pieces that you would see walking on the streets, but they are gorgeous pieces for a perfect occasion.
Herve Leger by MAXAZARIA
A sultry kind of sexy! I have always loved this designers bandage dresses; they are form fitting and sexy, why wouldn't I?. Yet, this line still has that sexy appeal, but without such formfitting clothing! I dig it! I've always loved the thick linings on his pieces, but now I see that without, the pieces are even better! The jewel detailing on some, the soft metallic tones, and his signature funky asymmetrical hemlines are giving!
Mara Hoffman
What made this show so great? The attention to detail! All the models wore gold cuffs around their arms or ankles, gold necklaces, gold rings, and the tips of their braided ponytails were dipped in gold, so as each one turned at the end of the runway, you could catch a glimpse of it. It was so unexpected and subtle, but so eye catching! The pieces themselves were stunning! The tribal patterns were a hit for me, the materials looked so soft, and including the jewelry made the outfits come alive. You could imagine them actually on yourself because of that included detail.
DKNY
What an interesting way to begin the show; I appreciate something different and attention seeking.! I loved the platform shoes, the tomboy-esque feel of the line, and the simplicity of the pieces. Nothing was over-the-top, but it all just worked (if that makes sense). Essential pieces! The checked pattern was perfect! But, the true added bonus of this show- the not so typical models! Go girls!
Katya Zol
Ok, I'm going to just say...WOW! If I had to choose a favorite show so far, it is this one! Everything about this showcase was perfect! The long white runway, the backdrop, the tribal paint on the models faces, the gold jewelry, the pulled back long, braided ponytails! Just everything! It was like putting everything I loved about the other shows into one big show! And, not to mention the actual line! The color palette was flawless. Soft, neutral tones with random inclusions of that royal blue or floral print! You wont see these pieces just anywhere, but when seen, they will be remarkable!
Diane Von Furstenberg
The pattern play in this line is insane in the membrane! Such beautifully vibrant colors, flowing material that could compliment any woman, and the show itself was gorgeous! She outdid herself with this Boho theme. I'm really loving how bright and colorful it was. Being that the majority of the other lines focused on black and neutral tones, the rich colors of this line were a great switch up! The Fall season wont be so dark after all!
