I have NEVER been a fan of turtle neck styled clothing. My main memory of them was having to wear this ridiculously tight and uncomfortable white turtle neck under almost everything in the winter time. Thanks mom! I hated that shirt and as a result, in my later years, I never gravitated towards any shirts or dresses that even resembled that of a turtleneck! Until NOW! Thanks to growth, trends, and the ability to pick out my own clothes..I can now wear turtlenecks! Yayyyy! I never knew just how stylish they were because I was so accustomed to hating them and never even gave them a chance.
Sometimes you have to challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and what you are used to, to try something you have not always been fond of. The old me would have never looked at this dress twice after seeing the design of the neckline, but once I tried it on, I was in love! Here I was thinking that it wouldn't look right on me or that the I would feel like that 7 year old child in that tight white shirt, but neither occurred! I felt stylish and I could breathe! I decide to spruce up my new found love with my favorite black thigh high boots and a patterned cross body bag for extra flair!
Every once in a while you should venture back to a style or piece of clothing that you never imagined being for you, and TRY IT! You never know how the "current you" could feel about past. It worked out great for me, because now I know that 'Turtle Necks Are Your Friend"! ;)
