Ok, so if you checked out the OOTD by BLT: The Iffy Outfit, you would know that I sometimes feel not so confident and sure about some of the outfits that I wear. Before I made the decision to post all of my outfits, no matter what, I would get rid of the OOTDs that I don't like it and create a new one. This OOTD by BLT is the product of a recreation! Initially I styled this skirt with lace up pumps and an ivory embroidered crop top, but it just was not working for me. I loved all the pieces individually, but together they did not create what I imagined. I know I can't be the only one who has had this struggle! Sometimes you just have to go back to the drawing board. When I went back, I decided to keep it simple and go for BLACK! When you're not sure what to wear with an item, try black! It's pretty much everyone's go-to color when in doubt or confused. It's a powerful color, it can accentuate other colors paired with it, and it's already in your closet (no matter how much a color fanatic you may be).
I love how the black crop and boots bring out the color of the skirt. Before, the ivory embroidered shirt and the skirt had somewhat of a battle for who would be the focus and there was no sign of either giving up. I decided to choose the skirt as the winner! Sometimes when you have two great pieces, you have to separate them. Let them be great on their own, with other simple pieces to support them. It makes since in your mind to put all your best items together, but then you have a little war between the them and the outfit ends up looking all over the place. The skirt was my focus, the black crop was my support, and of course the thigh high boots just pull it all together. Simple! Choose your focal point, pair it with your more basic pieces for support, and remember that 'Black Will Always Do'! ;)
