Back at it again with the Pantone Colors of the Year; rose quartz and serenity. Two colors that have been the best of friends since before I was born, but that is not the duo of interest for this OOTD. There is a new set of friends that have grabbed my attention- velvet and lace.

It's not as difficult as many may think to mix materials. I have found that the less you think about it, the easier it is. Let your clothes naturally gravitate towards each other, if that makes any sense.
For example, denim and cotton. You don't have to think twice about putting on your favorite pair of jeans and your go-to crew neck; it's a naturally occurring look. With this look, the natural attraction was with lace and velvet.
I'll call them "style pals". When put together in just about any type of combination, you will come out looking amazing. These two fabrics do wonders apart, but are magical together.
As for this look in particular, I choose a pastel color scheme. I wanted to stay with the cool tones throughout, so after I chose the top and skirt, the rest was pretty easy. The blush tones shoes went great with the skirt and the bag adds pattern.
A closer look at everything that was going on. An outfit can be busy, without being gaudy. I am rocking three different fabrics, but because of how well they accentuate each other that is not what you notice first.
A good hair day does wonders for you look as well. Hair is just as important when imagining your looks. Don't leave it out! Soft waves for a soft look.

I had a lot of great shots with this look. Probably due to my extreme love of this outfit. When you like what you wear, it shows!
Don't be afraid to play with materials, patterns, fabrics, colors, or all of the above. Styling is meant to be fun, so allow it to be just that! See how many different 'style pals' you can create.
A little bit of velvet, a little bit of lace, and the look is complete with a smile on my face! Just broke the corny meter with that, but it's whatever.
