The latest and greatest food craze to hit- BRUNCH! I never knew that a conjoined eating time could become a thing, but it most definitely is. Chicken and waffles, refreshing vibes, and day drinking on a Sunday afternoon. Sounds alright to me! I have decided to get on the bandwagon and start chronicling my brunch encounters to remember and share. Although this first entry was not my first brunch outing, it was the first time I stopped to appreciate the blend of breakfast and lunch in photo form.
One weekend this summer I journeyed to the beautiful city of Charleston, SC to visit one of close friends from college. In the midst of all the good times and catching up, she took me to this adorable restaurant in downtown Charleston called 82 Queen for a Sunday brunch. Now that I think about it, all of my brunch outings have been with this friend and all have been amazing, so I should have known that this would be no different. The entrance alone had me excited, pictured in the top right and bottom left photos.
The restaurant had an inside and outside, but we chose outside (conveniently placed in front of a fan because Charleston humidity is nothing to play with). I loved the butterfly back chairs, pink walls, and endless greenery. We sat in the "Queen's Courtyard" (of course!) in a two person setting, pictured below. I was lowkey obsessed with the scenery.
Now to the most important part, the FOOD! I felt like I had to get something Charleston was known for, so I chose to order the Barbeque Shrimp & Grits. One of the best decisions of the trip! It was the perfect blend of barbeque sauce, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Each bite had the sweet tang of the barbeque sauce, but then out of nowhere comes the sharp cheddar cheese flavor, then the fresh shrimp, all on top of soft buttery grits. I'm no food critic, but I know good when I taste it and this was good!
Over all, it was an awesome brunch experience. Great service, great food, and even greater company made for a great brunch.
