If I have learned nothing else in life, I have learned the importance of finding places to relax and find peace in your everyday life. A great friend of mine called it your "mental space". It's a place you go to relax, get your mind right, and have uninterrupted "you time". As he taught me, your mental space doesn't look a certain way; it's different for everyone depending on what relaxes you. For me, I am able to relax with dim lights, music of my choice, and elevated feet. Of course, that;s when I am at home. It got me thinking how I could take this feeling and transform it into a presentable everyday look. Here it is!

When creating a relaxing outfit that you can wear in public, you have to think about what pieces in your closet will feel more like you have nothing on at all. If it were up to me, I would wear sweatpants in order to feel the most relaxed, but that is not the best option when you want to look presentable. Get creative! For me, that looks like a flowing top, because I can't relax in tight fitting clothes. Cut off jeans, because they are some of my favorites for the summer and always fit just right. And slide in sandals, because the ability to remove my shoes at anytime is the most relaxing though of them all.
Neutral colors have always been relaxing for me, so that was the basis for my color selection.
Tickling flowers is not something I do on the regular, but always a pleasure when I can. I love flowers! One of the most relaxing parts of nature, so of course they had to be apart of my photos.
When your're trying to relax, you have to eliminate all unnecessary distractions. Same thing applies for a relaxing outfit; you need to get rid of the extra stuff. I don't know anyone that can feel relaxed with tons of accessories. Keep the jewelry to a minimum! A few bracelets. hoop or stud earrings, and a few midi rings.
Since I kept the colors neutral and solid, I thought bold with my faux snake skin bag. A crossbody is perfect for this look, mainly because of the size. The less you can put in your bag, the less to distract, the more you can relax. You never realize how many things can interfere with your relaxation, huh?

For some odd reason I wanted half of my shirt tucked and the other half un-tucked. I really can't remember why, but I dig how it looks. I was going for the sloppy, but stylish look.
My hair is slaying in this photo!
Once you find your perfect way to relax, fight for it. Don't let anyone take away your relaxation time because it really is a necessity for your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
Peace and relaxation, beautiful people!
