I am the type of girl that looks at a skirt and thinks "princess". To me, a skirt is one of the ultimate signs of femininity, being that it is a piece that only women can wear (aside from the kilt). But every time you put on a skirt, that doesn't mean you have to transform into a princess. Most of the time, but not every time!
I have found that leather is the perfect material to wear when you want to counter an outfit that is getting a little on the girly side. Leather is somewhat synonymous with hardcore, tough, and manly. Personally, I think about men with long beards, huge black boots, and grunge faces on motorcycles, covered from head to toe in nothing but leather.
You get the picture! Leather offers the complete opposite of what a skirt says. The skirt is screaming "GIRL POWER", while the leather is shouting "ARRGGGGHHH" (Ok, that's what's happening in my mind lol) So, you know what they say about opposites, right? They attract!
